What an excellent Change-Over of Officers Dinner we all enjoyed on Tuesday. Many thanks to Kevin Tompsett for the selections and planning, and for Laurie Vonglis's always-thorough assistance.
I am absolutely thrilled at the plaque I was rewarded with, that evening, and thank all of the Board of Directors for this wonderful recognition.
Thanks to Diana Williams for her diligent record-keeping and for presenting the perfect attendance awards to: Kelly Cole, Ted Coyne, Margo Harper, Dave Henehan, Gladys Iler, Hans Koomen, Kevin Tompsett, Kirk Vanderbilt, Laurie Vonglis, Tom Vonglis, Ernie Wiard, and myself. I hope I got the list correct...if not, let me know. And congratulations to Ernie for his many consecutive years of 100% attendance.
What a pleasure to be part of our club honoring Linda Kime, our newest Paul Harris fellow; and Laurie Vonglis, BOTH Rotarian of the Year and Paul Harris Fellow, and Tom Vonglis, also a Paul Harris fellow. All the nice things said about each of them that evening are a reflection of the work and energy and dedication to Service Above Self which each of them exemplifies in their own individual contributions to club and to community. How fortunate we are to know them as Rotarians.
Thanks to the presenters for the above awards: Bill Wall, for Linda; Jim Tompsett and Kelly Cole for Tom and Laurie.
Let us continue to keep both Margo Harper and Tom Ippolito in our thoughts and prayers. Although they were both present with us on Tuesday, they continue to have health issues and need our support.
Have you each had a chance to read this month's "The Rotarian" magazine? You will "Meet the other president John Kenny" in that article -- another president from our own District 7120 highlighted for his accomplishments and his plans.
There is very little I can add to the -- maybe too lengthy ? -- remarks I have already offered, thanking you each and all for making my year as Avon Rotary president a worthwhile one for me. I hope we have achieved some forward steps with our year together.
There is no doubt that we will be taking some gigantic steps with Kevin as your next president. Who could help but be impressed and encouraged by his zeal, his energy and his hopes.
Adieu. Rather, auf wiedersehn.
Remember, ROTARY "MAKES DREAMS REAL"!

President Barbara encourages all who missed a meeting to call another absentee and do a make-up together. For nearby make-up options, check the back of our paper directory or the on-line directory of District club meeting times and places. If you do a make-up, please tell Secretary Diana about it right away, so the correct numbers are reported to the District. |

For lack of complaints from the esteemed membership, I'm subjecting you to some more deep thoughts:
- If a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?
- Would a fly without wings be called a walk?
- Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?
- If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
- Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?
- If the police arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent?
