President's Message

We installed all the air conditioners for our guests' comfort this week. THEREFORE, we now have a cold spell. That's the way it goes!!

Since I was unable to be at last Tuesday's meeting, I have no news from that to report to you. There are a couple of reminders, however:

Our picnic this Tuesday, May 19, is an end-of-the-president's-year get-together. I do hope all our members will be able to be here, starting about 5:00 p.m. at my house. It's a bring-a-dish-to-pass and bring-a-spouse gathering.

Our ADG Luisa Barrs will be with us to present a Literacy Award, earned for our efforts in literacy programs this year. Also, Jim Yencer will be providing an update on scouting programs and activities made possible by our club's support of scouting.

Reminder from the District: look at the Foundation Update and PDG Jack Best's challenge. His idea of grandparents donating $10 for each grandchild is a good one -- and I know lots of our members have grandchildren with GOOD health to celebrate. $10 is a small amount to help avoid the lifelong anguish of polio for someone else's grandchild in another country.

District Secretary Bill Redden also sends a note about the District Change-Over dinner, June 27, at Frontier Field. If anyone is interested, the details are on-line.

There's also news about the District's 3-H grant with Zimbabwe, for training and monitoring to create 128 women's self-help economic groups and micro-finance, 64 youth groups and 20 youth resource centers, and other health-related training programs, the grant administered by Rotary in Harare. This is the first 3-H grant received by our district and $7,500 must be raised before July 1 to obtain the grant. Again, details at hcoene@rochester.rr.com.

Keep well, all, and hope to see you on Tuesday.

Remember, ROTARY "MAKES DREAMS REAL"!

President Barbara Herman

Looking back on...

Tue 5/12 Regular Meeting
Program: No program - Corn Fest Steering Committee meeting
Attendance: Absentees were not reported.

President Barbara encourages all who missed a meeting to call another absentee and do a make-up together. For nearby make-up options, check the back of our paper directory or the on-line directory of District club meeting times and places. If you do a make-up, please tell Secretary Diana about it right away, so the correct numbers are reported to the District.

Looking forward to...
