President's Message

Thanks to Kevin Tompsett, for conducting the November 4 meeting while I was working at the voting site. From all accounts, he runs a tight, effective meeting !!!

Congratulations to all Avon Rotarians who worked hard to make a successful auction on November 8.

It would be hard to list all the individual labors and contributions, but here's a start:

• to Kelly and Hans, for their tireless (well, almost tireless) slaving over their computer spreadsheets;
• to EVERYONE who solicited donations from merchants and friends -- and you know who you are --
• to Helen for organizing the food lots, the Wonder Lots,
• and to Marcy and Laurie for helping to stock the food lot cartons;
• to Linda Kime and Doug Reed, for guiding and working along with the InterAct students in the snacks-and-burgers booth;
• to Kirk, Laurie, Tom V, Kevin, Tim Dickinson, Bill Shaw, Bruce Amey, Karl Sawicki, and all the others who moved tables, set up, tore down, cleaned up;
• to Laurie, Kirk and Jan Cole, for organizing and sorting the box lots;
• to the front door folks: Tom Ippolito for running the 50/50 raffle, Gladys and Shirley for the registration tables;
• to Jim Yencer, for once again guiding the scouts in their run-fetch-and-deliver assignments on the floor;
• to Jan Cole and MaryEllen Graham for recording the purchases and bidders;
• to Jim Tompsett, Steve Stevenson, Jerry Dougherty, Tom Vonglis, Bob House (and his friends), Bill Wall, for pick up and delivery of all those heavy, bulky donations;
• to Bill Gee, for helping on the floor whenever help was needed;
• to all the spouses and family members who pitch in wherever they can;
• and to Mark Evans, for once again chairing this great fundraiser, almost without complaint --

to EACH ONE AND TO ALL of you, and to those Rotarians I may have slighted in the above list -- your efforts and diligent work pay off, this year as every year, in the contributions we are thus able to make to our community and other needs.

Not to be overlooked: the Rotarians and their friends and families, who bid and who paid: thank you for your many dollars!!!

Don't forget to spread the word on joining our club, to your friends and colleagues: the membership competition continues !!

Kevin will once again chair this week's meeting, as I will be attending a conference in the Hudson Valley. Our Board of Directors meeting on Monday, November 10, is open to any member who wishes to sit in, as always.

Program:	Auction Prep
Attendance:	Absentees were not reported. President Barbara encourages all who missed a meeting to call another AWOL and do a make-up together. For nearby make-up options, check the back of our paper directory or the on-line directory of District club meeting times and places. If you do a make-up, please tell Secretary Diana about it right away, so the correct numbers are reported to the District.
