President's Message

Didn't we have a fine evening, sharing information with Avon Lions Club members, over an excellent steak dinner, on Tuesday, October 14. Many thanks, as always, to Laurie Vonglis for making all the arrangements with the Lions and with Julie Carney's Catering company. And, again, to Laurie and Tom Vonglis for the work of set-up and clean-up.

Past President Bill, good job in discussing a possible rematch of the tug-of-war with the Lions. They must be modeling after the Cowardly Lion in "The Wizard of Oz" -- afraid to take on the Rotarians again!!!

This week, October 21, we're back to Peppermint's for our 6:30 bell and dinner. Since we could not air our grievance, squeals, and celebrations last week, there should be plenty to hear about on Tuesday.

Party Planner Extraordinaire Laurie will have an announcement and discussion regarding our scheduled November 15 social activity. Be sure to be present on Tuesday.

Assistant District Governor Luisa Barrs will be joining us for a meeting very soon -- she's trying to find a date that fits into her busy schedule. We look forward to having her visit us.

A riddle for you:

"Two bodies have I,
though both joined in one.
The longer I stand,
the quicker I run."
Let's have some responses on this riddle. First Rotarian with the correct answer gets a special reward.

A reminder on your New Member contest: time to get out and round up some good prospects for Rotary membership. Be sure to fill out the new member application card as soon as you know the person is seriously interested in our club.

Remember, ROTARY "MAKES DREAMS REAL"!

President Barbara Herman

Looking back on...

Tue 10/14 Special Meeting
Program: Rotary - Lions Picnic
Attendance: Absentees were not reported.

President Barbara encourages all who missed a meeting to call another AWOL and do a make-up together. For nearby make-up options, check the back of our paper directory or the on-line directory of District club meeting times and places. If you do a make-up, please tell Secretary Diana about it right away, so the correct numbers are reported to the District.

Looking forward to...
