President's Message

For all of you Avon Rotarians who attended the July 15 Picnic at Conesus Lake: what a great event!

Many thanks to Kim and Jerry Dougherty, for opening their beautiful home to us. And many thanks to Laurie and Tom Vonglis, for organizing, purchasing, transporting all the "incidentals". AND thanks to all the Club members who shared some great victuals (that's "vittles") .

We missed Rotarian Tom Ippolito, who chose to have some surgery instead of pigging out at the lake! However, he talked to several club members on the phone and sounded in great spirits. Hurry back, Tom! We're struggling along with the other song leaders.

If you were not able to attend that picnic, there's still time to make a reservation for our next summer social get-together, this one with the Cal-Mum and Geneseo Clubs -- now the TRI-CITY bunch -- on Monday, July 28. Golf is optional but fellowship, humor and good food are not!! There may be some entertaining moments in store. Let Laurie Vonglis know by July 24 so she can reserve a slot for you: lvonglis@hurritech.com. There will be no other club meeting that week. [But there will be a Cornfest meeting! HK]

We're still working on the Club's directory. Have you forwarded your up-to-date Member Data Sheet to Secretary Diana? Be sure to do that, pronto, so we can have your preferences in club activities and can draw on your interests and skills for the Club's benefit.

Your president (that's I/me) met with Tom Coene of Cal-Mum and Chris Rider of Geneseo to finalize plans for the July 28 activity and talk about plans for Tri-City in future years. More to come, later.

At our July 14 Board of Directors meeting, we talked about goals and plans for the coming year. Unfortunately, treasurer Kelly Cole could not join us, as he was preparing for Sen. Volker's visit (and past president Bill Wall was a no-show. Why, Bill? ) At the top of our list of goals is membership. Take notice, Membership Committee!! WeÕll be asking the membership committee members to formulate a plan and present it to the Board at the August meeting.

See you on Tuesday, July 22, at the pre-meeting "warm-up" or at dinner at Peppermint's at 6:00.

President Barbara Herman

Looking back on...

Tue 7/15 Special Meeting
Program: Picnic on Conesus Lake
Attendance: Absentees were not reported.

President Barbara encourages all who missed a meeting to call another AWOL and do a make-up together. For nearby make-up options, check the back of our paper directory or the on-line directory of District club meeting times and places. If you do a make-up, please tell Secretary Diana about it right away, so the correct numbers are reported to the District.

Meeting Notes:

President Barbara is looking for one or more volunteers to take notes during the meetings and pass them on to Hans for publication in the newsletters.

Looking forward to...
