Marcia's Notes:

Our guests tonight included Bruna our exchange student, Sid Symington from the Geneseo Rotary Club, and from Lima Rotary and prospective member for our club since moving to Avon Doug Reed and his wife LuAnn. Welcome guests. The new directory is finnally here. We know you have all been anxiously awaiting (Unfortunately not quite correct but will work for now). Birthday's and Anniversary's were announced for October (Do you beleive it's October already). The no fine button was auctioned off in preparation for our upcoming Auction the bidding was fierce but it went to Charlie Pease. Celebrations included one from Mark Evans on his 5 days in Georgia and meeting Past President Jimmy Carter and his wife at a few different events and hearing him preach in church. Tom Ippolito celebrated his recent trip to his fathers birthplace in Italy. They spent 14 days there. It was a great experience. Laurie Vonglis celebrated a week at the Inlet. They had a Hawiian Reunion with the Hayes's and the Dougherty's. Marne has been working a lot and was glad to be back with us on a Tuesday night. Jerry also celebrated a great weekend in the Adorondacks. He had lots of different Bread pudding. Doc Hayes also celebrated. Tom Vonglis also celebrated the weekend and because of his bad back Jerry chopped up a lot of wood as seen in the slides that were up on the screen. Jerry is now a swinger. Charlie celebrated the newsletter and my attempts at writing these notes every week. Margo celebrated the fact that she has lights now thanks to our own President Bill who continues to get picked on every week. Margo also celebrated the weekend at the Notre Dame game. Bob House celebrated trip on Genesee River, and his new pickup truck. Jim Tompsett is helping his nephew Christian sell popcorn for the scouts so he sent around a sheet. Sid from the Geneseo Rotary explained to us about the oratory contest where the finals will be held at Geneseo State with 1 contestant from each school. It will be a 5-7 minute speech and also a singing competion. The speech will be on ethics in life I plan to Live. There will be a scollarship to the winner for college. Mark gave us an update on the Auction, be there next Tuesday to get more assignments. We will have a judge here on Tuesday October 16th. He is a bankruptcy judge his name is John C Nimpho. It should be a very interesting program. Tom and Laurie presented our program for the evening. They just celebrated there 5th anniversary at Hurricane Technologies. They presented us with a slide show showing how they started up in 1998 by building computers in the back of Tom's garage while still working at Kodak. In 2001 they renovated a building on Genesee Street the old Ken's Bike Shop. Grand opening in 2002. In 2004 Laurie came on board full time to manage administration. Also in 2004 Tom left Kodak and started as Mayor of Avon. In April of 2005 fire hit their business and they moved to the location of Angie Style Shop just after a few days of the fire. In the winter of 2005 they started the new build. They are now a thriving business and have grow a lot. 1 year after the fire in May of 2006 they had their Grand opening in the building you see today. It was a very interesting program and I personally learned allot of things about the Vonglis's and their business that I did not know and I appreciate their sharing their story with us. Thank you Tom and Laurie you have overcome a lot to get to this point. 50/50 winner was Mark Evans. Congratulations. See you on Tuesday night.
