Marcia's Notes:

Guests tonight included Joe Monteleone our guest speaker and Dr. Ken Stedman a fellow Rotarian. We received an update on Hoyt's wife Doris, she is currently at the Avon Nursing Home and they are still not sure what is wrong with her. Our prayers will be continued with Doris and Hoyt. Eastern Cities Dinner is October 23rd. Stone Steager who was killed in a tragic ATV accident was a scout from the troup that we support and our prayers are with his family and we passed around the basket to collect money for a book fund in his memory. September birthdays and anniversaries were announced. Celebrations included one from Sue O'Hearn who is now a new grandmother. Her grandson was born by C-Section. Congratulations Sue, you're going to love being a grandmother. Karl celebrated the presentation of a check to the MD association for $17,000 collected at Cooks. They have been doing this for 14 years. Don Cook celebrated his daughter being married on August 18th and he preformed the ceremony. Wayne celebrated his father's 88th Birthday. Gladys celebrated the piano being tuned. Your playing sounded wonderful as always. Kevin celebrated the purchase of a new house. They closed on Thursday. Charlie celebrated Michigan winning and Tiger Woods losing. Jim T celebrated a senior citizen trip to New Brunswick, and Prez. Bill celebrated his daughter being at the Oprah show. Doc Hayes celebrated his babysitting job in Washington for his grandchildren. He named them all it sounded like the Von Trapp family. Kirk confessed to not wearing his safety glasses when he was working in front of Tim Rogers house and he was hit in the face and had to go to the emergency room. The No Fine button was auctioned off. Kevin forgot it at home and had to pay a fine. Margo Harper will be the recipient of the No Fine button when Kevin brings it in. Don Cook told us that on September 15th our exchange student will be arriving. Our guest speaker tonight was introduced by Diana Williams. Joe Monteleone is from the Tompkins Trust Company and the Bank of Castile. His talk to us tonight was on Crisis in America. He talked about inflation and showed us a presentation on The American Retirement Crisis. Crisis's come up and we don't see it coming, and we don't plan for it. There is a growing retirement crisis. We are overborrowed, undersaved, and under prepared. With rising longevity what are we to do. The presentation went over Seven Retirement Challenges. #1 The Age Wage- We are living longer and retiring earlier. #2 The Pension Plunge - Plans are dropping. #3 Social Insecurity - It's suppose to be a supplementary income not a primary goal. #4 The Tax Axe.#5 Inflation. #6 The Healthcare Nightmare - this is the most single critical crisis with skyrocketing costs. #7 Investor Blunders is the last item. But Joe say's there is hope. It was a very good and eye-opening program. Our 50/50 winner this eveing was new grandmother Sue O'Hearn. We ended up collecting $52 for Stone and the book fund. Thank you to all. Prez. Bill left us with these words of wisdom. Hug someone you love, and your dog is the only one who cares about you more than themselves. See you next week.
